comments:
As far as music awards go, this one didn't really provide many surprises (as is with most year's RTHK awards) compared to others. I got to wonder though, if Andy Lau was actually there at the ceremony, maybe he would have 1 more gold song (If One Day) and it probably would have gave Joey's "My Pride" a run for the global song of the year award. However, gotta give a hand to RTHK for still giving Andy so many awards (including a couple of pretty big ones, the National song and artist award) for not being there. I know having the artist there or not shouldn't affect the result, but in today's industry that's way too much to ask for, as we shall see how the rest of the 3 remaining major award shows do, especially the TVB one. I am a little surprise of the number of awards that Hins Chang got as I don't know too much about him, and why is there no best composer/lyricist awards??? But only new composer/lyricist awards that Hins got??? Most of the other results are pretty reasonable, though I can't believe Alex Fong got a gold song award (probably shouldn't been Andy's). And where is Andy Hui??? He got shutout? Hmm...strange...maybe he wasn't there either.

Actually Alex Fong's song was actually one of the hottest around a couple of months ago. It just wasn't "popular" among radio stations. It was played all over the streets (literally).

No surprises as you said, but the award winners list show that it was a weak year for HK music.
