Wild Fires in the West

I'm not form the west, but i hear Wild Fires every year around this time. the firs are always burning through hundreds of acres, and thousands of home destroyed and ppl evacuating.

Does california have wild fires ever year ? Is this just a normal instance to you guys? I don't understand, if i knew there was a possibility of wild fire near my home, i would wanna live there.

Californians usually are used to earthquakes, but the past 2 years, we've been hit pretty hard by fires...
